08 Concert Press

Giardini la Mortella, Ischia: the collaboration between the Walton Foundation and the Roman Philharmonic Academy continues at the Musical Meetings With the concerts on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th September the prestigious collaboration between the William Walton Foundation and the Roman Philharmonic Academy continues with great public success at the Giardini la Mortella.

The pianist Gabriele Strata is expected on Saturday 25 of September at the Recital Hall while on Sunday 26 of September it will be the turn of the Duo De Feo, cello and piano.

Gabriele Strata, considered one of the greatest young Italian musical talents, will open the weekend in music: born in 1999, he was the winner of numerous national and international piano competitions. In particular, the victory at the Venice Prize in 2018 launched him in the international concert scene, allowing him to perform as a soloist and with orchestras in the most important halls and theaters in Italy and abroad. We remember the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Steinway Hall and the Barbican Center in London, while in Venice he performed with the Teatro la Fenice Orchestra. He obtained his Master’s degree at Yale University and is currently studying at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome under the guidance of Benedetto Lupo, and in London at the Guildhall School of Music with Ronan O'Hora. To the passionate and competent audience of La Mortella, he will propose a repertoire with music by Scriabin and Schumann. Sunday 26 of September will be the turn of the performance of the Duo De Feo made up of two young brothers from Campania, the cellist Alessandro De Feo born in 2002 and the pianist Gabriele De Feo, born in 2003. Despite their very young age, both boast a curriculum full of affirmations in national and international competitions for young instrumentalists, as well as an intense concert activity both as soloists and in chamber music ensembles in numerous Italian cities on the occasion of important events. After completing their studies with honors at the "Cimarosa" Conservatory of Avellino, both are following the advanced chamber music courses under the guidance of Maestro Carlo Fabiano at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. The Duo will present pieces by Prokofiev, Cassadó, Brahms and Martinu. Both concerts will take place in the Recital Hal of Giardini La Mortella at 5.00 pm. In compliance with current regulations, only holders of a regular Green Pass will be admitted to the Hall.
