Johann Baumann
Swiss, born in 1805 and in 1831 he was a former professor of natural history. He came to the island for its volcanic nature, lived to the baths (area near the present port). Upon his arrival he hastened immediately to the lava Arso, then climbed on the two nearby volcanoes, Rotaro and Montagnone. He also visited the castle where the interested among other things, the way how many prisoners were housed and the hospital meant for them.
