90th edition of the Festa a Mare on the rocks of Sant'Anna 2022

For the 90th edition there will be three boats that will parade. The commentary of the evening entrusted to Carmen Cuomo with the great return of Beppi Banfi's “off-screen” voice. Parade of boats, castle fire and pyromusical fires, in the middle there will be music with artists from Ischia and beyond. Particularly involved are the students of the Higher Institutes and also the Italian Post Office will celebrate the 90th edition of the festival most loved by Ischitans.

 

After two years of stop due to the pandemic, the beloved 'Festa a Mare' returns to the Rocks of Sant'Anna. During a press conference, the municipality of Ischia announced the program and details that will characterize the 90th edition of the festival. Tuesday July 26 2022, at 9 pm, Carmen Cuomo and the historic voice of the party Beppi Banfi will comment on the allegorical parade of boats, waiting for the spectacular simulation of the Aragonese Castle fire and the pyromusical fires.

THE PARADE OF THE BOATS - In the race there will be allegorical boats built by the three associations HESTER, ISOLA VERDE PESCA and MONDOTEATRO. In addition to the ranking that will be drawn up based on the judgment of the Jury, there will, as always, be the FUNICIELLO, DI MASSA, NERONE and DOMENICO DI MEGLIO prizes.
The jury is composed of seven characters who will be able to make their contribution from an artistic and cultural point of view: the friend of the party and extraordinary artist LINA SASTRI, the regional councilor for school and social and youth policies LUCIA FORTINI and the President of 'LATIN SAIL' Association of Monte di Procida ANTONIO PUGLIESE; of considerable value the presence of the director of the MANN National Archaeological Museum of Naples PAOLO GIULIERINI (friend of the island and admirer of the Festival) and of the patron of the Carnival of Europe of Cento, IVANO MANSERVISI, while the sculptor will represent the island's artistic part of the festival NICOLA GIOBA and the gallery owner MASSIMO IELASI.

THE ARTISTS AND MUSIC - During the evening there will be musical moments with the participation of artists from Ischia and beyond: island excellence such as the soprano of San Carlo Desirèe Migliaccio accompanied by maestro Luca Iacono, with the participation of tenor Salvatore Minopoli.

 

COLLABORATION WITH POSTE ITALIANE - This edition will be celebrated with a special postmark from the Italian Post Office which will historicize the ninetieth edition of the Festival. In fact, the stamp has an official value and serves to embellish the postcards created for the occasion that will be distributed on the day of the event at the cancellation office near the Aragonese Bridge; two philatelic operators will postage and stamp the postcards that “materialize” the memory of the festival in the hands of the participants in the event, to be kept or sent to friends and relatives. At the end of the event, the stamp will be available for another 60 days at the competent office to fulfill any other requests for cancellation and subsequently it will be sent to the Archives of the Historical Museum of Communication of the Ministry of Economic Development in Rome, officially becoming part of the Italian postal collection.
Waiting for the historic allegorical parade scheduled for July 26th, some events will accompany this long-awaited return of the most beloved party from Ischia:
• On 23, 24 and 25 July from 20:00 to 23:00 the three high school institutes of the island, the LICEO G. BUCHNER, the ITS V.TELESE and the IISS C. MENNELLA will be present in Ischia Ponte as GUIDE DEL BORGO, telling those who want the story of the festival and the village of Celsa. The gallery owner Luca Mazzella met the boys of the Institutes in a training event, narrating compelling stories of the island tradition.
• On 24 July at 19:00, in the mirror of water where the party will be staged, a canoe competition organized by the Naval League of Ischia with the collaboration of IISS C. Mennella will be held; this friendly competition will decide the parade order of the three allegorical boats competing.
• On 25 July at 19:00 there will be the traditional procession to the sea with mass in the Church of Sant’Anna presided over by the Bishop of Ischia S.E. Mons.Gennaro Pascarella (boarding is scheduled for 19:00)

The mayor of Ischia Enzo Ferrandino: "Without Sant’Anna there would be no Christmas for the people of Ischia. We have been waiting for the Festa a Mare at the Sant'Anna Rocks for two years. It will be an edition devoted to tradition with the parade of allegorical boats, the fire of the Castle and pyromusical fires. The strongly popular cut of the party will be preserved and will be, as it should be, the true essence of the evening that I am sure will be able to give unique emotions not only to the Ischitans but above all to the many tourists who are spending their holidays on our island ".

Municipal Councilor Luigi Di Vaia: "We are particularly keen on the ninetieth edition organized, among other things, at the 90th minute. We are returning from the elections, but it was important for the Administration to be able to return to organize the party after two years of health emergency. The three boats are an expression of the whole island territory and we hope that they will be appreciated not only by the jury but also by the people of Ischia and by the tourists who will participate in the party. Carmen Cuomo is a serious, competent and reliable professional who knows the party well. I am pleased that the historical voice of the party Beppi Banfi is also returning precisely because it is an edition marked by tradition, but also embellished by the participation of High Schools. It is important that young people learn the tradition and culture of the party because they will then be the organizers and builders of tomorrow.
