Sant’Anna, an endless charm

The Sant’Anna celabration dates back to a tradition of the last century. On July 26, each year, pregnant women went in procession to worship the Mother of Madonna who was in a chapel in Cartaromana Bay. They were accompanied by a procession of anglers’ boats, which for the occasion adorned the hull with bushes and flower garlands.

Around the 1930s, a group of friends decided to set up a prize for the most beautiful boat. After this group of friends, a joiner and artisan replace the boats with the rafts adding surprising shapes and ornaments. Thus begins the festive sea procession with parade floats. Since then, the sea celebration at Sant’Anna’s rocks has an all-encompassing charm, an unmatched manifestation set in a scenario that would be worth living alive. The number of spectators set on the cliff and boats in the beautiful bay is huge. It is a tradition that this year will bring the boats in the waters of the Aragonese castle to parade to fight the Palio. After the parade of allegorical boats, the simulated fire of the Aragonese Castle and an amazing fireworks show.
