Antonio Macrì, eulogy of chromatic harmony

 An overwhelming crowd of friends, admirers, acquaintances, simple people gathered. On a Sunday last February - in the church of Portosalvo in Ischia, to share the sincere emotion of the greeting to Antonio Macrì, last performer of a successful and special generation of artists that have been appreciated and loved far from the borders of Ischia. A popular painter, a shy man, he left a very long track, distributed in an infinity of private collections.

 

Distant but not renouncing to the frequentations of famous personalities that have enveloped the island in the last century, Macrì’s work is the result of a relationship with creativity that has been all-encompassing for more than 64 of its 84 years of life. He continued to ask the brushes, to squeeze a pencil, to imagine a mixture of colors, even when he was close to the end credits. Tenderness, calmness and benevolence towards humanity have represented the style, never over the line, of man in everyday life and of the artist engaged in the narration of never banal existence.
