After the success of the high and low altitude zonal championship that took place from April 7 to 9, Forio of Ischia becomes again the local center of the sail in Campania. From May 19 to 21, the third edition of the “Scheria Cup24” will be held, organized by the Italian Naval League, Ischia Island, and sponsored by the municipality of Forio. The innovative stopwatch race, named in previous editions, such as the long sailing marathon around Ischia, concerns boating boats in the challenge of the last mile that will sail for 24 hours, trying to travel as many miles as possible around the island . The particular formula makes it impossible to get out of time and gives the certainty of the start and end times of the racing. This year will also use a GPS system on each boat to measure the actual route.

The added value of this race is certainly Ischia, the largest island in the Gulf of Naples, which also thanks to the coastal and scenic beauty offers a very varied racing range. Less than a month after the departure 30 boats, such as ORC, IRC, catamaran and metric classes fill in the list of participants. Among these are many boats registered for the high-altitude combination. The successful work of the organizers and the winning formula made this year that the “Scheria cup” was included in the “Combinata di Altura”, an event organized by the Royal Circus Canottieri Tevere Remo, by the Club Nautico Gaeta, By the Caposele Nautical Club, the Yacht Club Gaeta EVS and the Italian Naval League sect. Ischia which provides a regatta circuit that develops in the most picturesque places of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Scheriacup24 this year will also be the stage of the “Half Ton” circuit, to which the most popular boats of the IOR era belong.
