Run: Source of Buceto Piano San Paolo, Buttavento, the path of the brooms, Costa Sparaina, Candiano, Buonopane, Nitrodi - parking space.
Equipment: trekking shoes and clothing, water.

Description of the Run:
We’ll start from the riding track in Fiaiano and climb the Monte Toppo, a volcanic dome covered by a deep green ocean; typical of this side of the island and sign of a great floristic richness. Once on the path that goes up to the valley Buceto, where there is the source with the same name, in the first section we’ll see the remains of the old aqueduct that captured water from the fountain and took it to the village of Gelsa (nowadays Ischia Ponte). Thanks to the great exposure of this area, the predominant vegetation is typical of the maquis, in which stand out the fragrant essences of myrtle enriched by the aromas of wild mint and thyme. Then we’ll enter into a forest of chestnut trees at the foot of Mount Trippodi (502 m over sea level), until Piano San Paolo, an old fossil beach, witness of the submerged past of a part of the island. We’ll leave the forest and begin the descent, the landscape will offer a complete glimpse of the Gulf of Naples, with the Phlegrean islands, the Phlegrean fields, Vesuvius and the Lattari mounts. It’s the path of Buttavento on the  Sparaina Coast, which stands on a volcanic dome, leading to Candiano, fraction of Buonopane, where there is a centuries-old oak tree, silent witness of time passing away. Along this stretch there are also a lot of of wine cellars dug into the soft rock, which highlight the strong interconnection between the natural and the man-made landscape. The path ends with the arrival in Buonopane (fraction of Barano d'Ischia) and the visit to the Source and the thermal complex Nitrodi
